About me . . .

I am a Senior now, but was forced to retire in 1985 at the age of 53 as a result of an auto accident .Since then I have been working at rehabilitating myself. This is an ongoing process.

Living with Chronic Pain is not easy, and certainly not by choice.

Each day brings new challenges to be faced., situations to adjust to , emotions and mood to work through. These draw on much of my energy, and the reservoir is needing to be constantly replenished.  Knowing the theory is one thing, having to apply it for positive result is another!

Fortunately for me I have been gifted with determination; the will to succeed. It helps with the discipline that is required. Unfortunately, some people who do not know me well, perceive this quality as stubbornness, when I do not agree with how they think.

Prior to my accident I would feel hurt by the unkind words directed at me because of this misperception. Since  the accident I am a changed person. I learned during the course of my rehabilitation program that the person I was in fact, was not me. That person was but a composite of all the thinking of other people. To enable their own comfort zone, they  imposed upon me during my developing years (from infancy to adulthood,) their own notions.

From this perspective, I welcome the change to my life. The real me is a much better person.

After the accident I had to start all over again, as I was forced into bankruptcy to be dependent on Social (Disability) Welfare to cover living expenses. It was a very difficult road to travel. Having walked the walk, I know and can empathize with others who now are in similar dire situation.

As an advocate for People Helping People, I now work to earn as much as I can to help others get back into Society's' Main Stream and am now a member of  Home Based Times. I invite you dear reader to join me in my work.
